41 Great Years. |
Monash High School was initially established in the grounds of Nottinghill State Primary School, North Clayton. Seventy-two Form I (Year 7) pupils along with five teachers and one office staff were accommodated in three portable classrooms. As the inaugural year commenced so did the decisions that shaped the schools future. -choosing the school colours, emblem, uniforms, house system. It was a year of firsts...First House and Inter-school Swimming carnival, Athletics carnival, Cross-country, Ladies Auxiliary, Parents’ and Teachers’ Association, Form Captains, House Captains and School Captains. Also the first Record, Library and Mathematics clubs. Memorable moments this year include trips to the Melbourne Museum, the Herald Sun Art Show, Monash University to greet the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and the Round Victoria ( 1218 miles) bus epic. Comprehensive, entertaining notes were provided from the three forms however one form left us an historical account of their “portable” education experiences. -Form IB would like to record the following impressions of Monash High School’s first year for the sake of future historians. Why Monash is unique-
