41 Great Years. |
● The thirteenth year of the school bought another first for Monash. For the first time in the school’s history, MHS footballers won the All High Schools championship. ● A Bake-a-thon conducted by Home Economics and Human relations students resulted in students distributing 50 dozen easter buns to the homeless of Melbourne. ● HSC pass rate had increased a further 3% on last year to 73%. ● Mrs.L.J.Green our first Deputy Principal retired. Mr.R.Thompson appointed as new Deputy. ● The Noah Jazz, was performed by forms1 & 2 music classes. There were two almost completely different casts and over a dozen musicans ( Monash Jazz Band ) over the four night season. ● Formation of new look School Council enabled speedier processes for decision-making ● 16 sporting pennants won across tennis, softball, cricket, netball, football and cross-country. ● Improved student report system introduced. ● Form 5 General Craft conducted a successful Ceramics exhibition. General Craft was extended to include leathercraft and horse-shoe nail jewellery. ● Departure of the “Doc mobile” ( 1954 four-cylinder green Citrone ) after 7 years focal-point of school carpark. ● Westernport excursion hampered by very wet conditions. ● “The Night of the Cuckoo” ( formal dinner at Cuckoo restaurant) was the social event of the year for Forms 5 & 6.
