● M.H.S and Oakleigh Special Development School combined regularly for various year 8 arts/crafts and music classes. This led to the filming of “Towards Integration ”  during term 2 and was generally available to education circles in term 3.

● Work experience continues in year 11.

● Fifty students form years 9-11 participated in a two day Typathon. Students typed non-stop in relays from Thursday 9am till Friday 3pm.

● Year 7 Theme week, Australiana. From wearing period costume, making damper, experiencing different cultures and cuisines, computing, farm visits to bushdancing.

● Six excellent performances of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Yeoman of the Guard.

●  Mildura was the destination for the year 8 camp. This included winery and cinema visits on rainy days, lunch on the PS. Gem  paddle steamer and finding out there are real cherries in Sunbeam Fruit .

● An excursion to Sovereign Hill for years 9A & 9D meant stepping back into an 1850’s gold mining town, with a view of gold mining and a turn at olden days schooling.

● Year 10 had an adventurous coach trip to Hervey Bay, followed by a boat ride on The Crab to Fraser Island. After a great time on Fraser Island, the tour made its way back to Surfer’s. To top this off Cold Chisel were on the same flight back to Melbourne.

● Highbury National Park camp became the base for the year 11 Biology camp….even the wet conditions didn’t dampen Chatwick’s appetite

● Both Summer and Winter sports teams win Highway pennants.

Intermediate Football team was runner-up in the inaugural Esso Cup, conducted by  Richmond Football Club and sponsored by Esso Australia Ltd.
